Alternative Education Tutor

 

Starfish Social Services is seeking expressions of interest from an experienced Tutor for an established Alternative Education (Te Whetu Rangatira) programme based in Matamata. This hosts students from the Matamata Piako district. This position requires working daily with young people in a bi-cultural, social, and educational setting. 


Remuneration will be dependent on qualifications and the suitability of the right person to work alongside youth and families/whanau within a supportive team environment.  


Our successful candidate will have: 

* Experience working with youth and be able to motivate youth to recognise and develop their potential.  They will need to demonstrate the ability to manage student behavior and emotional needs as they arise.

* Cultural Competency.

* High Integrity. 

* The ability to work autonomously.

* Organisational and Administration skills including report writing.

* Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills and an ability to engage with learners from diverse backgrounds.

* Competency when working with computers and internet educational gateways.

* Motivation and the ability to work holistically.

* A Full Drivers License.

* A First Aid Certificate would be an advantage


Police vetting clearance will be undertaken.  All Starfish Social Services employees are subject to random drug testing.
